Subject 576

Overview

Taken from the institution in the aftermath of Incident 13-576-001.
Highly reactive, uncooperative, and aggressive. It is to be kept in a higher-security cell (reinforced walls, doors, cameras).

Subject 576 has exhibited anomalous abilities long before its acception into the Institution. Several incidents led to its enrollment in the Rehabilitation Program, although subsequent incidents proved this decision to be a mistake. See Institution reports MREV-01 to MREV-38 for further detail. During its time at the Institution, it showed promising learning capacities in-between incidents.

A few of its abilities may have uses if they prove to be reproductible. However, study is held back by the subject's entire refusal to participate in testing, culminating at times in lashing out at staff. Steps may need to be taken in order to foster a sense of, if not trust, understanding between Subject 576 and laboratory personnel.
Detailed explanation of testing is required prior to bringing Subject 576 into any experimentation chamber to ensure mild cooperation. Still regularly refuses to participate. Negociation is often needed for progress and to avoid property damage.

Subject 576 may not participate in scheduled socializing breaks, as it has a tendency to get into loud arguments and/or fights. Very few subjects have the patience to withstand this behavior, and a few incident reports have already been filed. Providing Subject 576 with drawing supplies has proven effective in replacing most social breaks.
Through slow exposure, Subject 576 has become able to socialize for short periods of time with others. However, any contact between Subject 576 and Subject 577 is entirely forbidden. Meal times must still be taken entirely alone to avoid interaction and incidents.
It has proven to be surprisingly tolerant of Subject 198. Currently undergoing an attempt to further socialize it by having them share sleeping quarters. Research lead has expressed disapproval of such a decision.
Signs of rebellion have decreased from both subjects.

Following the events of Incident 1-198-13-576-22-577-001, Subject 576 has been temporarily moved to a different room and may go back to solitary custody.
Subject currently refuses to speak and is sheepish when interacted with. While this seems to have lowered its lashing out and dangerosity, this is a significant stepback regarding relationship with staff and testing has been halted for the time being.

Current research focus : Determining highest teleportation and telekinesis ranges, and whether or not those can be altered.

Age : 17

Status : In custody – shares room with Subject 198

Abilities :

  • Shadow manipulation (tangible/intangible/illusions)
  • Telekinesis (range unknown)
  • Explosions (20-meter radius)
  • Short-range teleportation (about 5 meters range)

Notes

It appears as if Subject 576 is exhibiting an unusual amount of abilities. Further research is needed to determine whether this is an evolution we should expect from other Anomalies in the future, or if there are specific circumstances that led to this. Cooperation with Town Security regarding anomalous incidents may be useful to determine whether or not anomalies are getting more elaborate. Furthermore, I believe that despite the aggressivity, this Subject could be salvageable and eventually cooperate with us. — Dr Beaulieu

Inner Security's research alongside ours has not yielded another anomaly with the same amount of abilities so far. Through testing, Illusions have been reclassified under Shadow Manipulation. – Researcher Akronas

In rare instances, Subject 576 has been capable of mimicking other subjects' abilities. It tends to be spur-of-the-moment and only triggered in relaxed social spaces. While there has been debate as to whether or not Subject 576 is capable of true mimicry, the inability to reproduce these events has led us to discard the possibility. I must also question the validity of reclassifying illusions under shadow manipulation, as testing has shown that those illusions very often do not require shadow of any kind. – Dr Beaulieu

Addendum []/[]/27 : Since last week's incident, Subject 576 has taken to writing strange symbols in one of its earned notebooks. While this may be another art project, staff is advised to keep an eye on further developments. – Dr Beaulieu
